This agreement sets out the terms for your membership at Desk In Common. By signing up, you’re agreeing to these terms.

1. Membership Options & Fees

We offer three types of membership. Each membership is per person – you are paying for membership, not simply hiring a desk. A member may only use one desk themselves. Desks cannot be shared by multiple users. You may hold multiple memberships if you wish to provide access for additional staff. All additional staff must be registered with Desk In Common and will only be provided access once approved and recorded by us.

Dedicated Desk Membership – AUD $500/month (ex GST)

Your own desk (leave your monitor and belongings), lockable drawers, 24/7 access. Includes:

  • High speed Wi-Fi

  • 8 hours of meeting room credits per month

  • Kitchen usage

  • Use of 304 Newcastle Street, Perth WA 6000 as your mailing and business address

  • Business name signage displayed at the front of the building

  • Tea & coffee

  • Bike storage

Coworking Desk Membership – AUD $300/month (ex GST)

A shared desk (clear belongings each night), 24/7 access, booked online in advance. Includes:

  • High speed Wi-Fi

  • 5 hours of meeting room credits per month

  • Kitchen usage

  • Shower usage (BYO towels)

  • Tea & coffee

  • Bike storage

Casual Membership – AUD $0/month (ex GST)

Access to book a desk online in advance, available during weekday business hours (9–5). Includes:

  • High speed Wi-Fi

  • Kitchen usage

  • Shower usage (BYO towels)

  • Tea & coffee

  • Bike storage

Virtual Office – AUD $50/month (ex GST)

A membership plan for those who don’t need a desk but want a professional presence. Includes:

  • Use of 304 Newcastle Street, Perth WA 6000 as your mailing and business address

  • Mail and parcels received on your behalf (with optional sign-for service)

  • Mail can be held for collection, forwarded on request(additional charges apply), or digitally scanned

  • Access to meeting rooms at member rates

2. Limits & Fair Use:

  • Memberships are per person. Desks are not to be shared.

  • One desk per member only.

  • Meeting rooms must be booked in advance and credits do not roll over.

  • Printing and scanning is available – printing charges apply.

  • All visitors must be booked in.

  • Parking bays; Desk In Common has two private bays reserved for visitors attending booked meetings. Members are not permitted to park in these bays. With prior approval, members may request short-term use, such as for loading or unloading.

3. Term & Renewal

  • Memberships are monthly rolling until cancelled.

  • Either party may cancel with 4 weeks notice (28 days).

4. Payments

  • Fees are charged automatically monthly in advance via credit card only.

  • All amounts are in AUD and are exclusive of GST (10%).

  • We may vary membership fees by giving notice.

  • A bond equal to one month’s fee is required on signup. This is refundable at the end of your membership (subject to all accounts being settled and fob/key returned).

  • Late payments may result in suspension of access and administration fees.

5. Nature of Agreement

  • This is not a lease. It does not create any tenancy or property rights.

  • You are being granted a membership licence to use the space and facilities.

  • The space remains under our control at all times.

  • Any belongings left behind after termination may be disposed of without liability.

6. Access & Security

  • Dedicated and Hot Desk members: 24/7 access.

  • Day Pass members: 9am–5 pm weekdays only.

  • One desk drawer key per member – lost keys incur a AUD $50 replacement fee.

  • If an entire room is booked as 4 dedicated desks a door key can be provided. – lost keys incur a AUD $580 replacement fee.

  • All visitors must be booked in.

  • Members must always close and lock the front door when entering or leaving. If you are the last to leave, you are responsible for ensuring the property is fully secure.

  • Members must not bring or use personal heaters, kettles, toasters, cooking devices, or other high-power appliances in offices or at desks. Each office is fitted with reverse cycle air conditioning which is the only approved climate control system. Kitchen appliances are provided and must only be used in the designated kitchen area.

  • CCTV is in operation throughout the building’s common areas only (not inside offices, desks or meeting room) for safety and security. By using the space, you acknowledge that you may be recorded while in those shared areas. Footage is used only for safety and security purposes, is not stored in the cloud, and will not be shared without lawful cause. Recordings are retained locally and are not used for monitoring work activity, only for building security and incident review.

7. House Rules

Respect

  • Desk In Common is a workplace built on mutual respect and trust. We welcome people from all walks of life and expect everyone to treat others with kindness, care, and consideration.

  • No harassment, discrimination, or bullying.

  • No aggressive or disruptive behaviour. This includes language, tone, or actions that make others feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

  • Professional doesn’t mean stuffy. We’re casual, fun and friendly but always respectful.

  • We’re here to build a community, not just a workplace. Anyone who behaves in a way that undermines this will be asked to leave and may have their membership or access revoked.

Cleanliness

  • Clean up after yourself at your desk and in shared spaces.

  • Kitchen rules apply. Wash or put your dishes in the dishwasher. Clean up spills and use the bin provided. All food stored in fridges must be clearly labelled and dated. Anything unlabelled may be disposed of without notice.

  • Meeting rooms and shared spaces should be left how you found them.

  • If spaces are consistently left messy or misused, we reserve the right to charge a cleaning fee.

Shared Spaces

  • Meeting rooms must always be prior booked.

  • Kitchen table/TV area and courtyard must be booked if used for meetings. Otherwise, they’re freely available for casual use by members.

  • Kitchen/courtyard can be hired for private events (not included in credits).

Restrictions

  • No pets.

  • Responsible alcohol use only.

  • No drug use, smoking or vaping on premises.

  • No after-hours events without prior booking and approval.

  • Sleeping, lodging, storage, retail trade, running a retail business, or use of the space for immoral, illegal, or display purposes is prohibited. Direct sales to walk-in customers are not allowed.

  • Members must not alter, install, move, remove, or damage any furniture, fixtures, decorative materials, office equipment, IT cabling, or telecommunications equipment.

8. Members & Registration

  • Only registered members are entitled to access the space and use facilities.

  • Staff or sub-members must be registered with Desk In Common before being granted access.

  • If a member leaves or is replaced, you must notify us so we can update our records and access rights.

9. IT & Network Use

  • Members must keep their devices secure, up-to-date, and free from malware or viruses.

  • We reserve the right to disconnect any device that poses a threat to the network or other users.

  • The main Wi-Fi network credentials provided to members must not be shared with visitors. Visitors should connect to the designated guest Wi-Fi.

  • There is no expectation of privacy when using the shared Wi-Fi or network systems.

10. Events & Guests

  • We actively encourage members to use our space for events, and we love to host them. Events must always be pre-booked and approved through Desk In Common.

  • Our team can help host or support member events such as networking nights, sundowners, and community gatherings.

  • A few members having a social gathering after hours is welcome. However, events involving non-members in the space are not permitted without our approval, as they put other members’ privacy, safety, and belongings at risk.

  • All guests must be pre-registered and comply with our house rules.

11. Termination & Behaviour

  • Membership may be immediately terminated if members or their guests engage in harassment, bullying, or behaviour that makes others feel unsafe.

  • Misconduct, illegal activity, or breaches of agreement may also result in immediate termination.

12. Indemnity & Liability

  • Members must provide a Certificate of Currency proving Public Liability cover of $5 million or more.

  • Members are responsible for insuring their own belongings and equipment.

  • Desk In Common is not liable for theft, loss, or damage of personal property.

  • Members agree to indemnify Desk In Common, its staff, and directors against any claims arising from their actions or those of their guests.

  • Nothing in this agreement excludes or limits the consumer guarantees provided under the Australian Consumer Law.
